There was little serious crime
in the New Territories during 1905. The large majority of
minor offences were, as usual, contraventions of the Opium
Ordinance, and it is satisfactory to note that larcenies
were of rare occurrence.

early in 1905 at Ta Ku Ling to the North of the Sheung
Shui District and close to the frontier haa during the

effecting within a few hours of the commission of the
crime the 3 Chinese who murdered the Opium Farmer's agent
at Tai Po and were subsequently condemned to death as
reported in my Despatch No. 62 dated March 15th.,

of the Indians was fair; but the behaviour of the Chinese
in the Force still leaves much to be desired.

The health of the Force is comment-
